  • Open Content

    Open content, coined by analogy with "open source,"  describes any kind of creative work including articles, pictures, audio, and video that is published in a format that explicitly allows the copying of the information.

  • Open Source Software

    A practice in which the source code is available to the general public for use and/or modification from its original design free of charge. Many of today's popular software programs once started as an open source software program. For example: Linux, Firefox and many more.

  • Operating System

    An operating system (sometimes abbreviated as "OS") is a program that manages all the other programs in a computer. The other programs are called applications or application programs. Windows XP, Linux and MacOS are examples of common operating systems.
